You MUST Believe in Yourself

Believe in Yourself. It sounds cliche, I know. But I wanted to share a personal experience this past weekend that made me really feel it! Even at 46 I still have trouble in believing in myself but yesterday I really felt optimism and my ‘can do’ attitude emerged. As a life long equestrian, I always just seemed to rely on my instructors and friends to tell me how to ride, what to do,instead of using the life long tools and experience I have developed. For some reason I never actually believed I knew what I was doing up there, or that I would ever amount to much of a rider. Over the past few months however I have been training completely solo, using online videos and books as resources in the teaching of my horse. Yesterday I had a lesson with one of Canada’s top dressage riders and I was beyond thrilled with his response to the work I had done all on my own. Guess what?! Turns out I do know what I’m doing up there! I can reach the higher levels of dressage that I only ever dreamed of!! The lesson (as it turned out), was that you MUST believe in yourself in order to get to where you dream to be. Without the belief it remains only a dream. Trust in yourself!!
