As a parent of two young men myself, I understand the worry we can develop when our teenagers, or young adults appear to have no clear direction for their futures, or simply seem to drift with no purpose or inspiration.

 

As human beings, we are programmed to create lives of meaning in order for us to be truly happy.  This comes from cultivating our innate human needs. Human Needs psychology says we are all driven by six essential needs:

 

1. Certainty

2. Variety

3. Love & Connection

4. Significance

5. Growth

6. Contribution

 

Most of us are primarily driven by one or two of these needs in every choice we make. Generally, Growth and Contribution are the main drivers when we are looking for a satisfying career choice.

Through formal career assessment and personal coaching, I strive to help your child explore where they best fit in the world of work, where they can grow and contribute happily to society, and where their inherent interests can best be satisfied as a career choice.

 

By uncovering or discovering where their inherent interests lie, focusing those on a realistic career objective, we create energy and optimism for their future potential!

 

I can also help with the selection of post secondary education or apprenticeship options helping to FOCUS their direction and establish a realistic plan of action that keeps them excited and motivated.
