Guilty as charged. I AM always talking about university and college programs and students, its true – but it is only because these are the bulk of the students that come to me for advice. However, Trades People are too, and they deserve more attention.

It takes all kinds of people to make this world go around, and where would the rest of us be without the trades? They are vital to industry and the health of our economy.

For those of you considering one of trades as your future career, the Strong Interest Inventory can help you make that decision just as it can for those considering a university program.

Most trades oriented people will score relatively high in the ‘Realistic’ Occupational Theme, because they are primarily motivated by the use of physical skill. Some may back up the ‘Realistic’ theme with ‘Artistic’ themes, if they are into fine carpentry where creative thought comes into play, or perhaps the ‘Conventional’ or ‘Investigative’ themes, if they lean more towards electrical or mechanical type work where there is more organization and strategy involved.

If you are considering a trade as your profession, please don’t hesitate to connect with me to develop a game plan for your future – lets figure out which trade in particular, may be the best focus for you to be happy working for the long term.
