The Strong Interest Inventory isn’t your fly by night career assessment. It’s tried and tested the world over and is made up of generations of psychological research. Sometimes young people are driven by the wants of others, especially well meaning but oppressive parents who have strong views on what their adult child should pursue in education and career. If this is the case, or there is some other motivation for trying to sway the results of your career assessment (ie. to make your parents happy), we are practitioners can tell.
The Strong has built in matching pairs of answers, which if are not matched, generally indicate a forced report. It’s called the Typicality Index, and it’s generally the first thing I look at to ensure we have a valid report to discuss.
