This is something I hear often from students and my corporate clients alike. If you are established in your career, have developed experience, and like what you are doing, then 'no', I wouldn't suggest doing the career assessment. If you are established in your career, have developed experience, and like what you are doing but feel the need to take it up a level, start your own business or train for something else, then 'yes', the assessment can be helpful to you.

For students who 'think' they know what they want to do, this assessment is always helpful because it can provide the confirmation needed to take the next steps. It can also shed light on peripheral career areas that one may have never thought of and alter the course of the post secondary program choices one takes. It can also provide an indication on the best type of post secondary program (college, uni, co-op) etc., that you will be most successful in.

For some students, they 'think' they want to pursue a specific career path because their peers are pursuing it, or their parents suggest it.. but the career assessment can often come back with a completely different suggestion. And, when it is explored further, uncovers true passions and interest in an area that was never considered as a career path.... those are the light bulb moments that I LOVE to see! Because true excitement for the future is revealed, one that the student can call his or her own.. and THAT is AMAZING to watch happen!!!

So, whether you need confirmation on your direction or need grass roots help on figuring out where you fit in the world of work, this career assessment and our discussion together is sure to benefit you. :)
