If you can picture yourself in the future, then you are half way there my friend!
Visualizing your life 5, 10, 15, 20 years down the road is an important step in getting to where you want to be. In regards to career planning, if you have a pre-determined destination, the next steps are relatively easy.
When I am working with students, we always have to work from back to front. Once we have the results of the career assessment, we can determine an end goal, or sometimes, a couple of end-goal options, ie. your career aspiration!
As long as we have that beacon shining in the distance, we can plan accordingly. The next thing we have to do is look at what post secondary schools are offering the programs that are going to get you to your end-goal. Lets narrow down the choices... which programs and which schools appeal to you and are realistic options for you?
Once we have that list, we can figure out our next move in present time - which is to make sure we are taking the prerequisite courses in high school, so that we are eligible for acceptance to our pre-determined schools and courses.
Depending on your timing in completing the career assessment, you may have to take a summer or evening course to fulfill the pre-requisites for your college/uni applications - but as long as you know your end-goal, we can always develop at path to get there!
